Review of On Deadly Ground (1994) by Paul W — 03 Jul 2007
The only reason this film gets a full star instead of half a star from me is because of Michael Caine. Unfortunately Caine's performance isn't enough to save the film from being a complete waste of time and money.
After actually watching this film all the way through in the theatres, and then trying to watch another Seagal film on TV once, I've concluded the guy can't act. For some reason he was good on Saturday Night Live though.
This movie was replete with poor performances, except for Caine and action clichés. I don't think there was a single fresh idea in the entire movie. Not to mention that the term "Eskimo" is now and was then politically incorrect, not to mention rude. They are a native people with their own culture and deserve to be called by their native name, Inuit. This film lacks respect for the Inuit and their customs.
Essentially abysmal.
