Review of Obvious Child (2014) by Malia C — 08 Jun 2014
This is a subtle movie that talks about a taboo subject in a tactful way. Although the direction is a little unfocused at times, the likability and humor of Jenny Slate more than makes up for this shortcoming.
Slate does a more than adequate job being funny while still being relatable as an every-girl. This movie will get laughs but is still smart and sensitive. However, do not see this if you are expecting a feminine comedy in the vein of Bridesmaids.
This film is obviously more geared towards female comedic sensibilities but this film is by no means meant to be a knee-slapping late-night comedy.
