Review of Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) by Melanie M — 22 Mar 2008
Herzog reshaps his version of the classic with stunning results. Kinski has never been more frightening, pathetic and alienated, and that is saying alot. Adjani is the most radiant as a woman with a strong will to do the right thing in the face of evil, and Ganz makes a great Harker.
Be sure to watch the German version, but the English version doesn't suffer totally. A visual feast, and the opening with the mummies is sure to set your frame of mind for the rest of the film...
