Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Amanda H — 02 Nov 2011
About a month ago a friend told me "how can you say you love cinema if you have not seen nosferatu?" I did not get the point of his comment until I finally sat down and saw the film. First of all is the best silent film I have ever seen but its much more than that, it proves that there is no need of big budgets, cheap scares and crazy special effects to create a film of great visual impact.
The vampire is nerve racking this is mainly due to Max Shrek. It is also held as a classic and as the starter of the whole genre of vampire films unfortunetly these films have dropped in quality significantly for instance the twilight movies and I say this because if Bram Stoker had imagined shiny vampires they wouldn't be sucking blood.
The movie stays with you mainly due to its overall creepines.
This film is a must see mostly because it stands by its title: a symphony of horror.
