Review of Norwegian Wood (2010) by Andrei C — 20 Feb 2011
Was never going to live up to the book but a pretty good adaptation which comes into its own as the movie progresses. a pity they sidelined Storm Trooper, who provides welcome comic relief in the novel.
The four main actors do justice to the characters and probably won't upset any of the book's devotees. Some US critics are saying this is an "emo" film. I think this is a lazy comparison given that its protagonist is Toru Watanabe, not Naoko.
Of course, it's also set in 1960s Japan!
