You will have a hard time finding a better dramatic film; this movie really highlights the brilliance of modern Japanese cinema. And especially director Kore-eda Hirokazu - this really got me onto his stuff, and I may buy some dvds of his older work now (saw the samurai comedy "Hana" soon after).
