Nobody Knows is very sweet and yet heartbreaking film about 4 kids who are abandoned in an apartment by their mom. The kids are headed by the eldest, 12 year old Akira who is forced to become an adult and take care of his younger siblings.

It seems that young Akira has already been forced to act like an adult before as even in the earlier scenes with the mother still in them he acts more mature than her at times. The difficulty of Akira being forced to grow up so quickly is shown in many scenes.

Akira tries to play baseball and video games with other kids, he clearly wishes to go to school and read comic books and play at the playground. However even when the electricity and water and money run out, Akira is still forced to go to great length to prolong the survival of him and his companions, they start to live in a heartbreakingly feral state with their mother nowhere in site.

The directer never sentimentalizes the situation the children are in, and though sweet at times everything is treated with the utmost sense of realism. The film highlights the strength and will of Akira to survive and taken care of his siblings, even while wishing to live a normal life and the frustration at his mother's abandonment of them.

Overall Nobody Knows is a heartbreakingly sweet film that really shows the determination of one child to overcome his sad state and the sad reality that he has to grow up before his time to survive.
