Review of Nobody Knows (2004) by Anna S — 01 Mar 2008
Based on a notorious incident that happened in Japan a few years ago, Kore-eda manages to capture an intimacy that goes far beyond the removed perspective of a newspaper. Instead of focusing on just the incident itself, the film shows the everyday lives of children who struggle to maintain stability after being abandoned by their mother.
It's not all tragedy -there are happy moments, everyday moments. That's what makes this film so special.
