Review of No One Killed Jessica (2011) by Arjun I — 09 Jan 2011
Justice and Morality rule the middle class while play docile servants to the rich and powerful. This is the underlying theme of "No one killed Jessica". I sincerely urge everyone to go and watch the movie.
Kudos to the director for taking up such a telling subject and making a really engaging movie of it. The movie leaves the viewer with such a connect to the protagonist that one can literally feel the helplessness & apathy that the family of "Jessica Lal" went through.
If you are rich & powerful, you can get away with even Murder in India for the system is full of people who lack the conscience, for morality to thrive in this society. Jessica Lal's family got justice cause the media made a movement out of it.
But in various nook & corners of India, there must be plenty of such stories and instances, full of apathy and denial of justice which go unnoticed. For Media generally looks for soundbites. A new story will come up and soon the Raju's and Kalmadi's will be forgotten.
They will be absolved of their sins by repeatedly postponed and unending trials, bribed and hostile withnessess & crucial missing documents. Justice delayed will justice denied and that's how the system will thrive.
What this country needs is people with an alive and pricking conscience. A faith that the law and the people who who swore to protect it will not suck up to whims and fancies of the rich and powerful.
For within them lies the future of this nation. Jaago India Jaago !
