Review of No Man's Land (2001) by Lyubomir H — 06 Dec 2009
I found this movie overrated to some extent. I was personally expecting philosophical discussions between the two guys over war; instead, director's approach was to show the absurdity of war by developing the dead-end situation itself, but in the end it didn't work so well.
The ending was very weak due to the holes in the plot. [SPOILER starts!] Firstly, the Serbian and Bosnian shooting each other at the end after almost becoming friends was very, very unconvincing. Then comes the ending, when a bunch of civilized Europeans from the UN just leave a man, lying on a mine and go on with their regular duties.
..Come on! While I can see the purpose of this absurdity, it is totally inconsistent with the rest of the movie.
