Review of Nikita (1990) by Stephane E — 11 Jul 2009
This film has bags of style and Luc Besson displays his talent for rich characterisation. Make sure you watch it in French (with subtitles) rather than exposing yourself to the awful cartoon voices of the dubbed version.
Compare and contrast with the terrible Hollywood remake, which makes the characters 2-dimensional and stomps over the stylish action sequences with size 12 boots. Anne Parillaud is believable as the screwed up druggie who gets trained up to be a top assassin. Bridget Fonda, on the other hand, is miscast in the role in the remake.
That's my opinion, anyway.
