Review of Nikita (1990) by Diane H — 31 Jul 2009
"Little black dress", pouting lips, a dangerous vulnerability and a semi-automatic. I present you, Nikita. Glossy, chic thriller, dripping in French gloss and class.
Besson does well directing his former wife, Parillaud less than a year before they divoced. I loved the story, the writing, the acting, the cool camerawork, the lighting, editing and of course the sumptious, ballsy score.
It was good to see a woman headline an action thriller such as this for a change, and she handles the role surprisingly well. She also oozes sensual, feminine sexuality that was very impresionable on a girl of only 14 when I first watched this. I think it is time to watch the film again, its been awhile.
Classy, moving, exhilarating.
4/5.
