Review of Nights of Cabiria (1957) by Duane B — 21 Jul 2010
What can I say? It's Fellini! This is one of his greatest. Every scene is a masterpiece of cinematography and film making. He makes it look so simple yet visually stunning. There is always so much going on in each frame that it has become difficult to watch.
I keep rewinding and watching each scene over and over. His characters are over the top yet somehow just normal people. his scripts are amazing as well as he makes every word count. While this could be considered a simple story, there is nothing 'simple' about Fellini.
I found the story an tragic comedy full of irony that somehow manages a smile at the end. He was,,,is the Shakespeare of film! I don't think there is a film made that is not influenced by him!
