Review of Nights in Rodanthe (2008) by Risya H — 09 Feb 2011
The whiskey scene made it all worthwhile. Go on, girl. Don't let your ex ruin your night. Instead of Diane Lane putting on an oldie she should of threw on some Hip Hop; like Sandra Bullock in The Proposal. "To the windooow!" I love that whole stable of actors: Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, and that gang. They just seem low key and classier than the new gals...or maybe I'm just being sentimental. They let you "discover" them. It's kind of like the Gospel According to Usher, "We want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed." WARNING: THIS REVIEW JUST TURNED RATED R. I'll tell you what men don't want [and I'm speaking for the guys forced to sit through the Bridget Jones Diary feature commentary]. We don't want a freak in the street as well as a freak in the bed.
You know what I mean.
Speaking of naivity I found Nights in Rodanthe made up. What are the chances of a recently divorced "Paul" meeting a recently separated "Adrianne" - on those terms? "It happens." Yeah right, "It happens." Tell "It happens" to all those poor bastards paying eharmony fees. The Notebook was charming but this script was a glass slipper away from being just plain sappy. Nonetheless the superstars did was superstars do. When the set plays aren't working get the stars the ball and get out of the way. The story almost didn't matter. Just call a spade a spade. Nights in Rodanthe is Unfaithful Part II. Diane Lane and Richard Gere on screen again? That's worth three stars right there. Thumb up.
* It's Like That [remix] by Mariah Carey is "Adrianne's" song.
