(2008) Nights in Rodanthe.

ROMANTIC DRAMA.

Oblivious what to expect and without knowing what it's about which centers on the Diane Lane character as Adrienee Willis whose a divorcee with two kids and it's her ex's turn to spend some quality time with them, but before that even happend he's basically asking her for a second chance. Viewers suspect that her ex was a cheater and is asking for another shot at their relationship, but she doesn't want to give at that particular time for she's already commited to look after a beach resort hotel for a friend and and she is played by actress Viola Davis. Upon going over to the resort, an expected hurricane is expected which is the reason why they're no customers except one and he happens to be the Richard Gere character as Dr. Paul Flanner. There's a reason why he booked three days over there as opposed to somewhere else and we the viewers are oblivious about what that is and it is to see someone who happens to live in the same town as the resort, and he is there to make amends for a conscience mistake for he's a doctor. The rest of the film dwells on this relationship between these two characters.

They're three to four things one should expect upon watching a Nicolas Sparks adaption- 1) a beach/ or the county fair 2) letters 3) tragic mishap and finally 4) a cheezy love story, and this film contains all four of those things- at least the first three anyway asking the question how are those things going to be handled when we watch it! And as forementioned, I thought this film was intelligent enough and better than the average Nicolas Spark's movie perhaps the best one I've seen so far and I've seen at least more than 5 because it doesn't 'dumb' it's characters enough to make one want to cringe since the situtations shown alot of it is by chance and it is a believable one at that, such as the scene when the oldest daughter pressing her mother to reunite with the actual father but doesn't quite understand why for at the early stages continues to blame the mother for not offering him a second chance whose totally unaware that he is a selfish cheating husband- this scene alone is totally realistic because parents don't know when nor know how to explain to their underage siblings why they can't go back together for I believe theirs a certain time for everything. I can almost relate to everything that has happened in this film which while watching it, some of the actors may have compromised with it's script from it's two leading actors since besides Lane and Gere, there's also some good acting displayed by Scott Glenn and James Franco whose uncredited playing Gere's estranged son.

3 out of 4.
