Now this is how to do a remake! OK, so it obviously isn't an original idea but Savini is a veteran of the 'Dead' legacy, and because of that he knows what gives this film life (or rather, undeath).
The zombies are more threatening than in the original and look a damn site more dead too! The performances of Patricia Tallman (Barbara) and Tony Todd (Ben) more than make up for a bit of over-hamming by some of the other actors.
The best thing about this update, however, is that the sense of dread is on a par with the original, and that's praise enough indeed! They're coming to get you Barbara!
