Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Andrew J — 20 Mar 2011
This was the first modern "zombie" movie. It was also revolutionary and innovative. A black man was cast as the lead role and was the protagonist, which was unheard of back in 1968. It also took gore to a new level - especially with cannibalism.
It's not too gory by today's standards, but it was shocking for its time. In addition, this film seems to promote racial tolerance. Even though, it's over 40 years old, it still pretty scary (it scared me, too).
A scary horror classic. Unfortunately, the ending cuts the rating down.
