Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Jacob G — 14 Nov 2011
By today's standards, I suppose it is easy to look at Night of the Living Dead as quaint. However, if you enjoy older filmmaking conventions where conversation and characters are more important than gore, then NotLD is a rather grand experience.
The b&w filming is stark and unrelenting, a story about 7 people who end up in the same house with zombies ("ghouls", as the film subduedly terms them) all around them. The biggest conflicts are internal--and the fireworks resulting from these conflicts are as important as the zombies themselves.
