Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Andres O — 20 Oct 2012
Although it doesn't pack as many scares as modern horror films, Night of the Living Dead draws on the claustrophobic sensations felt when faced with imminent death. The low-budget classic reminds us that bigger isn't always better, and less can sometimes be more.
The gory violence found in this black and white nightmare sets the bar for future films of the genre. Remarkable is the development of the nature of humanity in a mixture of characters that are pragmatic, hopeful, hysterical, treacherous, apathetic and naive.
The acting and music may be a bit outdated, but the film in itself is a zombie horror classic.
