Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Chok S — 21 Oct 2014
A classic, original (for that period), and masterful zombie flick from George A. Romero. The plot here is such a classicly terrifying one that it becomes a typical plot that almost all modern zombie films these days seem to be borrowing from.
If you just saw this classic film like me, you might think this is such a typical and predictable film but coming to think about it, it's the film that started it all and perhaps, without this film we wouldn't have such great zombie flicks and series in this day.
As the film is in black and white, the SCARE here is pretty much effective plus its music and sound effects really help support that well. The GORES here are also terrifying enough for the film in that age.
Overall, this film really proves how Romero became the Godfather of Zombies and also my very first favorite director who began my love for zombie films (thanks to Land Of The Dead). This film is definitely a disturbingly genius horror flick and a MUST-WATCH for all zombie movie fans [B+].
