Review of 'night, Mother (1986) by Michael L — 12 Nov 2007
This is a wonderfully-done adaptation of a play. Sissy Spacek is a middle-aged woman suffering from epilepsy, and Anne Bancroft is her older mother, who live together but hardly know each other. Sissy's Jesse has decided that she's tired of life and has prepared everything but her mother for her departure.
The film follows Jesse and her mother as they discuss what will happen after the shot is fired. For anyone who has ever lost a friend or loved one to suicide, this film may be difficult to watch. For those brave enough to watch it, you'll find yourself very disturbed, and wondering why you feel sorry for the wrong person.
But she isn't.
