Review of Night and the City (1950) by Tiffany P — 29 Nov 2007
I freaking loved this movie. I grinned like an asshole the entire time I watched Richard Widmark run around London, "an artist without an art" as another charcter calls him. One must note why this movie exists and why there is so much tension. This is Dassins last hollywood picture because he was blacklisted as a result of the McCarthy hearings and turncoats like Elia Kazan.
This may not be the best noir film, but it is one of the most enjoyable.
