Review of Night and the City (1950) by Riley H — 14 Dec 2010
The best thing about this is Widmark's performance (though it is occasionally over the top and it is traditional in that sense of so many old movies where actors speak their emotions to others); it is probably the best of his career and one of the best in any noir that I've scene.
The direction is probably the second best part. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the script or the score, on the other hand. But a pretty good noir.
