Review of Nicholas and Alexandra (1971) by Private U — 10 Nov 2007
An undiscovered gem - very often shown on daytime TV. Saw it when I was 12, loved it. Saw it a few years ago, loved it even more (both times, on BBC2 during the day). Tom Baker had a life before Dr Who & Little Britain, as his Rasputin is phenomenal.
First movie appearance for Brian Cox (Trotsky) and while saying very little, a young Steven Berkoff looks as mad and bad-tempered as ever. If you can rent it, do so on a lazy afternoon.
