Review of Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) by Kelly S — 29 Aug 2010
If you love horror, and the "Nightmare" franchise in particular, this is a must-see. It is one of the most comprehensive, well-executed horror documentaries -- hell, documentaries about film -- I've seen. Every Freddy movie is covered, including "Freddy vs. Jason." Almost every actor from every film is interviewed -- with a few notable exceptions, like Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette.
Also, most of the directors and screenwriters are interviewed, as well as New Line co-founder Bob Shaye. And no one holds back their opinions. For example, Wes Craven has no problem telling you he thinks most of the films that he didn't work on were shit.
It is four hours long, but I wasn't bored once and didn't fast forward through any of it. If you don't want to sit through the whole thing, you could easily break it down into two or four parts.
