Review of Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) by Andy P — 12 Sep 2012
One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. This is enough to please any "Nightmare" fan. Words can't describe how great this doc is. Almost every actor from the movies are there, even the ones who had bit parts. Yes, the biggest complaint is that Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette aren't in this and on the DVD commentary, the filmmakers explain that they try to get them but no avail. Depp and Arquette are big super stars and the filmmakers only had a small budget.
But the good news is that they got Craven, Englund and Langenkamp and they're the key ingredients of the series.
There's plenty of anecdotes, behind the scenes info and even bashing of other people and not in a jokey way.
A lot of the actors and actresses don't look any different, they just the same as they were in the movies, other actors and actresses not so much.
For a 4 hour doc, it never seems slow or dull. This doc is truly one of a kind and a great achievement for the filmmakers.
This has been the best 4 hours of my life. If only all "Making of" documentaries can be this much fun.
