Review of Network (1976) by Alexei G — 09 May 2012
I'm not entirely sure what attitude I should approach "Network" with. There are times where it's funny, there are times where it's serious, there are times where it's romantic, there are times where it's thrilling, and then there are times where it's just flat-out ludicrous.
When you get right down to it, "Network" really is just a ridiculous film, and you'd gather that from a single viewing. Personally, the deliciously over-the-top performances are what kept me entertained.
Faye Dunaway, Peter Finch, and Robert Duvall are all so crazy and hot-headed in their roles that it seems almost comedic, while William Holden remains low-key to balance things out. (Ned Beatty has a scene-stealing performance as well.
) "Network" is bizarre and doesn't really make as a much of a point as it should, but it has a share of great moments.
