Review of Network (1976) by Kyle H — 15 Aug 2013
What? Critics writing things like, "...so preposterous...", "shrill, self-important 1976 satire...", "Slick ... self-congratulatory, and almost entirely hollow"?
In 2013 where the doddering old major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) are struggling to retain viewership and trying to import cable T.V. edginess while still retaining their over-the-air FCC licenses, and while cable T.V. is filled with ... New Jersey Basketball Hip-Hop Bling-Bling Transgender Housewives or Frozen-Fishing Ice-Trucking Rapper-Thug Duck-Dynasty Repo Men, somehow "Network" is "over-the-top" and unbelievable?
How in the world do you think the T.V. programs you see in 2013 get onto T.V. in the first place?? All you have to do is watch "Network" and you've pretty much got your answer, although I'm sure the reality of T.V. (major / cable) is probably much, much worse.
