Review of Needful Things (1993) by Tim M — 27 Sep 2006
The problem with this Stephen King adaptation is that it abandons the tone of the book, which was a pitch black comedy about greed. The film is, for the most part, an attempt at a serious supernatural thriller that never works.
The cast is uniformily good but the only person who seems to be in on the joke is Sydow, who is having a great time as the devil.
