Review of Needful Things (1993) by Peter N — 13 Dec 2011
Needful Things is the second-most convincing screen portrayal of the Devil on the screen, second only to the brief TV show "Brimstone." It is also the single most underrated of all Stephen King movie adaptations.
It's worth seeing over and over again. It's always a tough set of choices to adapt one of King's huge novels to the screen, but this movie makes all the right choices, ending up with something that seems more powerful if anything than the original book.
My only complaint is that the DVD publishers failed to use the amazing face-inside-the-bag image from the theater poster. I suspect that unfortunate marketing decision halved the sales of the DVD.
