It's unfortunate that this movie wasn't successful as it came out at the same time as the Lost Boys. The reasons for that would be that Near Dark had less funding and no big stars in it. Even though I love the Lost Boys and think it's really fun, this is definitely the better movie.
It is way more atmospheric and much darker. It was almost a "lost" movie apparently. What really sucks is that soon a Hollywood remake will be coming out, which I think is really sad because I know it will be nowhere near as good as this film.
