The bar scene is so gloriously depraved and so gloriously Bill Paxton, and shows just how gifted a filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow really is - right up there with any given great scene from The Hurt Locker or The Loveless.
It's just a shame the climax and ending are so lame and clichéd and predictable that it very nearly undoes just how awesome the rest of the movie is. Nearly.
