Review of Mystic River (2003) by Andrea M — 09 Jan 2013
Though dark and a difficult subject matter to illustrate this film really kept my interest in the characters and the way they responded to the central tragedy. The conclusion was expected, but the ending really was a drag, making the motives of some of the characters a little more distasteful but somehow making it appear morally acceptable.
A bit strange for me, because I believe in taking almost entirely an opposite view. I would have much rather a "that's that" ending and having the audience come to their own conclusion. Although not sure what, I'm sure Clint Eastwood had something in mind.
