Review of My Suicide (2009) by Fred F — 02 Oct 2011
There are no words that will do this film justice! that being said, here I go.
Archie's Final Project is THE MOST INCREDIBLY MOVING AND POWERFUL MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. For teens who feel like misfits, or just out of sync with society, this movie will speak to you on a personal level. For any parent who wants insight into the real world of their child, this film is a must see. FOR ANYONE WHO ENJOYS GREAT MOVIES, YOUR SEARCH ENDS HERE! The story is, and will always be relevant and gripping. The acting has you forgetting it's a movie, as you are pulled into Archie's life. You will forget you are watching a movie, and feel as if you are watching a friend you've known your whole life.
The pesudo-documentry style of the film is very intimate. A fantastic mix of "home-made" first-person footage and traditional third person movie filming is truly well done. Coupled with the "you-tube/home-made" special effects, Archie's Final Project CAN RIGHTLY BE CONSIDERED A WORK OF ART.
The story will attack the full range of your emotions. It is considered a dark comedy and will have you laughing quite frequently. However, there are moments in the film when you will discover that yes, even you can cry. It is beyond entertaining and I guarantee you won't want it to end. It personally MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME (Godfather eat your heart out).
Archie is an unforgettable character that transcends the film and has you falling in love with him from the very beginning of the film. You will find yourself relating to him at many points in the film on a very personal level and who knows, you may just be an Archie yourself.
Finally, I must say that at points the subject matter may not be appropriate for younger audiences, but I also feel it is important that every teen sees this movie.
So, as I already said, words don't do this film justice. GO SEE IT!
