Review of My Suicide (2009) by Karl L — 25 Dec 2010
The first third is pretty mindblowing on a level of experimental filmmaking (especially editing) set to brutally honest anti-establishment ranting through the lens of a Gen Y mind fried by media overload.
.. until the film, very disappointingly, becomes a conventionally preachy after school special. Still, there are flashes of a great, generation-defining movie in here -- this is a first step towards a greater movie, along with 2010's The Social Network and 1999's Fight Club, both by the less flashier hyper-stylized direction of David Fincher, who is also a less judgmental director, a filmmaker of considerable more substance.
