Review of My Own Private Idaho (1991) by Naaz D — 30 May 2011
Beautifully made movie about a gay hustler set out to find his mother and a sense of belonging.A Confused, narcoleptic struggling with childhood memories that haunt him and sadly in love with a fellow straight hustler. Mike's journey from the run down buildings where a group of hustlers live, almost like a family under the care of father-figure where the scenes are almost theatrical. We see him slowly disintegrate due to rejection from all the people he loves as they travel to his hometown Idaho and then Italy and back.
His quest for acceptance, love and stability is a sad one and deeply touches me.
