Review of My Name Is Bruce (2007) by Matt H — 13 Feb 2009
Intentionally poorly shot, performed by the supporting and terribly written, as a spoof of the B-rate God that is Bruce Campbell, it does well. Not full of, but slightly laced with the laughs you'd expect from a Campbell produced/directed/starred film along with the poorly made special effects reminiscent of the first Evil Dead, it's a great nod to the fans, but that's truly all it serves: the fans.
It's plot is ridiculous, with no mention of being mistaken for Ash (which was the funniest part of the plot description), but filled to the brim with enough b-rate goodness that it's hard to ignore for fans.
I guess, because I'm such a Bruce Campbell guy, I can't say I didn't like this movie, as it was exactly what I'd hoped for, but anyone who hasn't seen a Bruce movie prior to Burn Notice will probably just mumble "WTF?", walk away and masturbate to The O.
