Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by James H — 15 Oct 2017
I'm a huge Brony to start with. It's a fun kids movie. For a fan while it was awesome to finally get to see the girls have a big screen treatment the writing, which is clever and we'll done it the series wasn't there in the movie.
What worked:
- Sia's Rainbow song was brilliant and captured the entire MLP movement.
-Tempest Shadow well written character and we'll acted.
- The expansion of the MLP world.
- Pinkie Pie fully realized.
- Very well composed musical song.
What didn't work:
- Storm King was a pathetic "main" villian and should have been cut.
- It was rushed because of too many songs and unneeded characters.
- Too much mixed animations styles.
- The mane characters didn't get a chance to be themselves.
Anyway, was it good, fun, entertaining? Yes. Was it what I wanted? It was good enough. I did rewatch the entire first half several times online.
