Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Mitchell M — 26 Dec 2018
This is without a doubt one of the best movies based on a TV show that I have ever seen in, the animation was beautiful, the characters were all likable just like they were in the show, some of the new characters were pretty memorable, Emily Blunt's voice performance as Tempest Shadow was very intimidating and kind of sympathetic, the songs were all pretty good and they were actually in the context of the story, the 2010's era of cartoons always had musical numbers in their shows and the songs are usually used in the context of the story and helps move the plot along oh, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is without a doubt no exception, and it's 2017 movie out of patient has some of the best songs in the movie, my personal favorite one being Tempest Shadow's song "Open Up Your Eyes", as it shows her sympathetic back story on why she's helping the Storm King, I won't spoil it for you here, my only complaint for this movie is that the main villain, the Storm King, was kind of a underwhelming villain, it felt like they were trying to do hey I'm kind of like how Disney did with Hades from their 1997 animated movie "Hercules", but the Storm King only had 7 minutes of screen time in this hour and 39 minute long movie, I kind of wish she had more screen time because he looked pretty intimidating and he is voice by Levi Schreiber, so he was kind of a letdown like Russ Cargill was in The Simpsons Movie, and possibly I kind of wish that they couldn't use some of the other amazing villains they had in the show that they could have used as the main villain for the movie, if they weren't going to have Lord Tirek, Queen Chrysalis, Dr.
Caballeron, or Flim and Flam as their main villain, at least try to make the Storm King is awesome and intimidating as them, (I didn't add Discord to the villains that could be used for the movie because this movie takes place after season 7 and Discord were formed at the end of season 4), and another complaint that I had is that personally, I think Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity, should have just had secondary roles in this movie, and the main focus should have just been Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Spike since they served more to the plot then Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity did, but to conclude, My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) is emotionally written, beautifully animated, Adventure movie with great characters, catching musical numbers, and good pacing, even though Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity should have just been sage for the end of the movie oh, and the main villain, the Storm King was kind of a weak villain, I consider this to be the second best movie based on a TV show, the number one movie to be based on the TV show to me is the South Park movie, but I highly recommend the 2017 My Little Pony movie to anyone, for the bronies and pegasisters oh, y'all will love this movie, The general audiences, My Little Pony friendship is Magic is a continuity driven show, like a lot of the 2010s era of cartoons, like Adventure Time, Gravity falls, and Steven universe, and the movie takes place after season 7, so you're probably going to have to watch the series from the first episode just to get caught up with it.
