My Little Pony: The Movie is animation excellence. You may say I'm biased, being a brony. But seriously, it has an excellent script, likable and well written characters, fantastic drama, comedy, and light-hearted adventure.
And above all, it doesn't speak down to it's audience. It tells a story that can appeal to all ages without alienating any of them by being too overly childish or too mature for it's boots.
It's the perfect middle ground really.
