Review of My Girl (1991) by Brian B — 23 Jan 2009
After Macaulay Culkin won over family audiences with Home Alone a year before. Fans rushed to see another good family film starring him. But they got what came to be known as the "My Girl" surprise. Meaning, the end caused as much kids to cry as..the "Marley and Me" surprise.
Anna Chlumsky's performance was still impressive though. It's a good movie about a young girl that learns about loss. But in no way should it have been advertised as a family film. I think the same goes for Marley and Me.
