Review of My Girl (1991) by Jazmine B — 11 Nov 2014
She's eleven-years old, lives in a very complicated life: Vada's mother died about a few days or week after she was born. Her father is a mortician, looking and prepairing the bodies in their basement; their house is the funeral home. And a grandmother - who is ill, suffering from Alzheimer's disease. They always have to keep a eye on her, more than tomboy Vada (Anna Chlumsky). She seems to always have a lot of ideas and priorities in/of life. Now she wants to be a writer. And take a poetry class during her summer (but causes money), so father, Harry (Dan Aykroyd) won't let her. She mainly wants to be one to impress her crush: the teacher. She's able to get the money by taking some from Shelly (Jamie Lee Curtis) cookie jar. Her best friend is Thomas J. (Macaulay Culkin), who's alergic to "EVERYTHING" might have a romance together.
Sorry for talking about just the story. What I have to say that I can relate to Vada. Always tried to do things like be a singer. Be a chef. OR even a actor before I choose to be a writer."My Girl" is a very touching tribute of childhood romance and interesting people. I'm deicating this tearjerker to my grandma Pam, she loved this movie!
"My Girl, my girl, my girl...My Girl.".
