Review of My Favorite Year (1982) by Jonathan B — 28 Jul 2013
Peter Oâ??Toole was great, but he was basically playing a caricature of himself so that really should not be a surprise. Every other character was a cheesy Jewish show business stereotype that was somewhere between mildly annoying and Oh my God, I want to shoot that man in the face annoying.
Some of the jokes and gags worked, but a lot of them were just people overacting and flailing their hands around for no real reason. The fact that the only other thing the actor with by far the most screen time ever did was playing the straight guy on Perfect Strangers tells you how poorly they cast this movie.
