Review of My Dinner with Andre (1981) by Ali M — 29 Apr 2010

This is the movie I've always dreamed of making (and maybe I will one day). It's a simple concept, two acquaintances meet for dinner, yet, it is in that simplicity that the movie gains complexity.

To screenwriters, this is the antithesis of anything we should ever write; there's little to no action and all the characters do is talk. Yet, through conversation, you start to understand each one of them more completely than you would with any action.

The way people talk about themselves is incredibly revealing and this movie nails it.
