Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Steve M — 28 Jun 2009
This is a movie I had been looking forward to since I first saw the preview and I actually enjoyed it. It's not going to make a stir in the community like Underworld or something that caliber did, but for what is, I absolutely loved it.
With a cast lineup of Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman and John Malkovich I expected the acting to be a little better but I think the film was unique enough to hold its own regardless.
A very dreary, gorefest of a movie which sometimes leaves something to be desired on the CGI end, but again...that can be overlooked due to the uniqueness of the film. It almost felt like Silent Hill meets Sky Captain: The World of tomorrow.
My biggest complaint is I feel that narration was doing to bypass a lot of story line and save time. This movie could have easily been broken up into a mini series or even had plans for a sequel or be a trilogy that ended at the same spot. Maybe next time.
