Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Lance M — 25 Jul 2009
I really don't know what happened with this movie. The plot was nothing extroardinary, but no more so then most summer blockbusters, but it really seemed low budget adn I just don't understand why.
There are quite a few decent actors in this one, Thomas Jane Ron, Perlman, John Malkovich and Sean Pertwee who you may recognize better from Event Horizon and Dog Soldiers, not to mention countless video game voices.
On the female side you have Anna Walton and Devon Aoki, who helped with the eye candy and didn't do too bad a job I guess. The movie takes place in an alternate reality where there is global conflict and during some battle an ancient seal is broken and these crazy mutants pop out and start taking over the world.
A Priest decides to put together a small team to destroy this machine that controls the mutants and also makes new ones from dead people. Unfortunately, there is just too many things wrong with this one.
The effects are pretty bad, they break into the mutant stronghold way too easily, the confrontation with a team member turned mutant could be seen a mile away, it was just not very good overall. Even with the decent names for actors, none of them really seemed to put any effort into this movie.
This is one you could avoid.
