Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by John M — 27 May 2012
This movie is amazingly lop-sided. Itâ(TM)s got a great cast and excellent special effects and production design for its budget. On the other hand, itâ(TM)s horribly written, acted and edited.
A title change, a totally new story concept and a good director could have turned this movie into something special with the raw materials that were here. It could have been a new âPitch Blackâ?, but instead itâ(TM)s fodder for some future Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival.
And whatâ(TM)s up with John Malkovichâ(TM)s lines in this movie? His reading / acting his horrible! Very stilted and halting in an odd way thatâ(TM)s not really part of building a character but more like an actor who is being blackmailed into working on this movie for some reason. And even genre movie star Ron Perlman walks through his character with disinterest.
