Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Simon T — 07 Mar 2018
I've never been a fan of Agatha Christie's work, either on paper or film and normally this film would not have tempted me. However, the brilliant marketing campaign caught my attention and so I gave it a go.
Everything from the top notch cast to the imposing poster of the train moving through the snow with red smoke billowing from the funnel was genius. The film itself however was just ok. It was brilliantly shot and looked beautiful but I felt several cast members were underused, the story was perhaps a little too gentle for my crime thriller tastes and Kenneth Branagh's facial hair was way too distracting.
