Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Giovanni C — 15 Nov 2017
Is it the best movie I've ever seen? No. Is it the worst? No. There are a lot of good things in this movie, and a lot of bad things. I thing everyone gave a great performance, but they weren't given a lot to work with.
I haven't read the original novel so the ending was actually a really cool twist to me, or a lazy one. I think it's cool because no one would suspect that literally all of the suspects are the murderers, but it's also lazy in the same way.
The twist seems like the author didn't have a lot of time to think of a great twist, so she just said screw it let's just have everyone be guilty. To be honest I thought it was good it just didn't live up to my expectations.
I thought it was gonna be better than it was, especially with the cast. Again I didn't read the book so I knew literally nothing about this story, so I was kinda taken back when Johnny Depp was killed off so early.
I had a flashback to Into the Woods. However is character plays probably the second most important role in this film, whereas once the big bad wolf died literally no one remembers Johnny Depp was even in that film.
It's a good way to kill time, and if you like mystery there's a good chance you'll be entertained.
