Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Late R — 31 Dec 2018
It starts out so well and promises much, but despite being wonderfully shot (the cinematography is very nice, indeed) and showcasing an all-star cast, the writing causes problems. The talented actors and actresses at work here don't get nearly enough room or screen-time to play, and it lacks a certain amount of oomph.
It's far from a complete train wreck though, containing enough style, as well as a dash of humour, to pass as entertaining. Tom Bateman's boisterous character is a highlight, as well as Branagh himself who's obviously having a lot of fun with his performance of the Belgian detective and does him great justice in the process.
